Thirsty Thursday

Welcome to Thirsty Thursday!! Well here it is Thursday morning and only 16 more working hours until a three day weekend. I am holding my hands up and saying Halleluiah…..  I really need a few days to catch up on doing nothing. HAHAHA Not really nothing just nothing involving actual employment. I guess I just really need a break. I do have plans for the weekend. Dennis finished the front landscaping area now we just need to finish the back area. He is creating a sitting area for me but honestly with the neighbors’ dogs always jumping at the fence and barking I probably won’t sit out there much. It’s a shame really because I love sitting outside. Thursday’s always seem to go so slow. I guess it’s because I am just waiting for Friday. I love Fridays… They are the gateway to the weekend. My thought bubble “treat everyday as if it were Friday”…

Manic Monday

Here it is Monday already… All I can say it is one day closer to a three day weekend…. The day has been going fairly well… The doc says my tests came back benign or in layman’s terms, no cancer present. I was so happy. I did get the standard warning “don’t go out in the sun without cover, always wear sunscreen, yada yada yada”. I know that it is serious but I always do those things anyway. Work was good today. I got a lot done and I am looking forward to going home and taking a walk. My thought bubble for today is simple “take your time to look around and notice little things, you only get one try at this crazy thing called life”.

Fun Filled Friday

After a boring Vo-Tech graduation last night and an impromptu book reading at 2:30 this morning I actually woke up this morning feeling energetic and happy.

I really do not know what prompts me to get up at all hours of the night and read but I can tell that my sugar is acting up because I had to urinate 4 times last night. It could be the wine I had before I went to the graduation or the pasta after. Either way I did not sleep very well.

Tonight Dennis is going for a tattoo and Denny and I are going for a short hike in Nolde. We will be in and out due to the time in the evening but it will be nice.

Dennis and I have discussed this total change in lifestyle that I have been on and he really likes it and so do I. Instead of reading constantly I am trying to temper my thirst for books with outdoor activities. I have really taken to hiking and being out in the woods. I think it helps that I love to photograph anything and everything so I hike with a camera. Oh and my epi-pen…. I can’t forget my epi-pen. Well I hope that everyone’s weekend is relaxing and fun. Thought bubble for today “dream a little dream and all things are possible”.

Happy Hump Day

Wow it is Wacky Wednesday already. The family and I are already making plans for the weekend. Dennis and DJ want to go to Great Adventure on Saturday so barring weather problems that will be an all day affair. I will take my camera and plenty of batteries. Sunday DJ and I are going to hike to Painted Turtle Pond in Nolde Forest. I have checked the weather and Sunday is iffy but maybe we can get the hike in before or between rain. I love to hike. I can’t wait until I am in better shape so I can go on more intense hikes. I have decided to start taking pics of random abandoned buildings. I have found this to be very interesting and considering how much I love history I thought this would be a perfect venture for me. Dennis is all for it. Then again it could be illegal and this is as close to illegal that we want to get at our age plus he gets to actually carry a gun for a reason (no not people but possible animal attacks). Anyway I am excited to see what I can find.

My bandages are off and I have to say my face looks really good. Dr. Dooley did a wonderful job and I should have very little scarring. All in all I am having a good hump day. Thought bubble for today “keep your head down, your Ipod on and your spirits up, this is only a miniscule part of your life”.

Monday

Well today I am sitting here thinking about what I want to be when I grow up... I mean come on I am almost forty. I am pretty much satisified with my life. I wish some things would be a little different but I am satisfied with my person and my place in life and in my family. I think that I become introspective many times due to negativity that seems to flow in around me at times. There is a lot at work with this economy. People are worried about their jobs and it seems that people do not realize that everything they say and do causes a ripple effect. I am very optimistic and I think that sometimes people take it that I do not care but the truth is I do care. I just happen to see the bright side of things. So now that all that is said my thought bubble for today "Before you say anything think about the ripple effect and the fact that a small ripple can create a tsunami".

Thinking

I have been thinking alot about office ethics and office behaviors lately. It seems like whenever I go on vacation or take a few days off I come back to the psss psss of people. I know I am not supposed to care but when you work in an office so small it is really had to not listen. I have been keeping my ipod playing constantly to drown out the whispering and my fears. What I can't figure out is that I would do anything for anyone in my office and I don't get treated the same. I am going to stop bring in things to eat and buying people little things just because I know they like them. I am going to stop the cards when someone is feeling down or sick and just keeping my comments and feelings to myself. I can do this..... Though bubble for today "figuring who your true friends are can save you a lot of emotional pain and physical money"....

Summary

My trip was wrought with spiritual and emotional cleansing. I feel like I am ready to begin the next journey of my life. I do not know if I will ever travel to the Pacific Northwestagain but I do have hope.

I was impressed by how many people are still surviving in the areas I visited. Due to the housing market and out economy the income level is very low but people have managed to seek out a living in the place their grandparents and great grandparents still inhabited. Forks could be seen as a dismal town with very little room for growth but people who think that would be wrong. Forks is on an upward curve thanks in part to Stephanie Meyer’s Twilight Series. According to Travis, my tour guide for a three hour trip, since Twilight the movie came out the town averages several hundred to several thousand visitors a weeks depending on the time of year. Forks is very close to the Quilete Reservation and the Hoh Rainforest as well as different part of the Olympic National Park allowing a traveler to go from a snow covered peak to a beach to a rainforest is a day if the traveler wishes.

The epicenter of Forks seems to be the Forks Coffee Shop. The restaurant serves big portions of delicious food for low prices. While sitting in the restaurant people watching you notice that with the exception of the Twilighters the patrons all know and care about one another. Waitresses are honest when you accidentally tip them twice and they all sit at a table enjoying their meal while you are too. Not that the service is not great, it definitely is. Our waitress made us feel like we were not tourists there for a story but instead we became a part of the Forks culture for that one brief moment.

There were many instances where we were made to feel that we belonged in Forks. The Forks townspeople would all say a quick “Hello” and held the door for you, even if it meant that they would get wet, which with 12 feet of rain a year that is a definite possibility. Ron at the Forks Chamber of Commerce was there when we stopped in (every day) and he always seemed to have something new to show or tell us. Going to the grocery store and Forks Outfitters was like meeting old friends. We chatted with the ladies in Forks Outfitters about everything from kids, to mothers in laws and our husbands to what was going on around Forks and if Twilight was helping the economy.

The economy of Twilight is not helping the town of very much. As a matter of fact it seems the only one really making money is a Twilight fan that moved to Forks from Vancouver and set up shop. The owner of Bedazzled by Twilight now has three properties on Forks Main Street, one is a store, one is a Twilight tour company and one is the new Twilight Lounge. The residents of Forks that I talked to were not happy that someone came in from the outside and opened up shop. After going in to check in for the tour I can see why the residents of Forks do not like the owner. She was not very pleasant at all to deal with and I reason that if she treats customers bad she must treat others bad as well.

The positives that came out of my trip…. I lost a friend because she became my sister…. I cleared my conscious so I can start the next part of my life….. I accomplished and saw things I never thought I would…. Above all else I think I found a part of myself that I thought I lost….
